The name ‘Isole e Olena’ came about in the 1950s when the De Marchi family purchased and combined two adjoining estates, ‘Isole’ and ‘Olena’, each of which dated back hundreds of years. The estate is located in the heart of the Chianti Classico region at the midway point between Siena and Florence.

Fourth-generation winemaker Paolo De Marchi studied Agriculture at the University of Turin and worked several harvests in California and France. When he first arrived at the family estate in 1976 from his home in Piemonte, he found much need for improvement and modernization in the Chianti Classico region. One of the initial projects involved planting single vineyards of international varieties. Through these advances, Paolo ultimately discovered a way to balance tradition with innovation.

Collezione Privata Chardonnay

The Chardonnay Collezione Privata by Isole e Olena glows intensely yellow in the glass. Complex aromas and scents of orange blossoms, citrus fruits, honey and melon, nuts, spices and roasted aromas unfold on the nose. On the palate, this Chardonnay from Tuscany impresses with inviting elegance, soft, creamy, dense and powerful, with appealing fresh acidity. The finish is long, harmonious and very sustainable.

Collezione Privata Syrah

‘Collezione Privata’ is a varietal Syrah crafted from hand-harvested fruit. Fermentation is done in temperature-controlled steel vats followed by 18 months of aging in French and American oak, then 12 additional months in bottle. The wine is concentrated and intense, marked by flavors of sappy dark fruit, chocolate, and black tea. Well-integrated tannins and bright acidity lead to a lasting finish. Serve this robust wine with braised beef, leg of lamb, or grilled vegetables.
